Case: RedCycle
RedCycle is a project from the Master’s in Service Design at BAU · Centre Universitari d’Arts i Disseny, developed in collaboration with Lorena Pozo and Silvana Pacheco.
OBJECTIVE
To promote menstrual well-being, as we are acutely aware that menstruation is a natural process inherent in the lives of menstruating people. Therefore, it is essential that they navigate this process in the best possible way, with freedom, care, confidence, safety, and prevention. By providing these concepts, we are promoting menstrual well-being.
METHOD
The project methodology was based on the Double Diamond approach, which consisted of 6 stages in order to create a timeline for each one, integrating different quantitative and qualitative research tools and methods.
RESULTS
As a result of the research, we created a service called RedCycle, focused on menstrual cup users, providing them with a menstrual well-being ecosystem through partnerships with public and private entities. This seeks to ensure that menstruating people can access, free of charge, items that allow them to manage their menstruation safely, hygienically, and practically, contributing to their well-being.
Learnings
There is a vast universe of people and experiences surrounding menstruation, and being an important stage in people’s lives, society and public entities as a whole have a lot of work to do to ensure that it can be lived with the greatest naturalness and dignity possible.
